GIRLS

'Girls' are a series of portraits which preceded, informed and developed into the 'Beholden' series. The intention behind this project was to illustrate female participants, then provide them with a questionnaire in order to deduce whether illustration can engender positive self-perception amongst a quota of women. The inspiration for creating this study was in order to understand whether an individual's illustrative practice can effectuate a genuine positive response in an individual, with particular emphasise on women, due to the numerous contemporary pressures regarding body image, which subsequently impacts self-perception.
