bEHOLDEN

Beholden is a self-directed body of illustrations completed in aid of my MA in Graphic Arts. The project involved interviewing a sample of female participants regarding their self-perception and identity. After the interview process was completed, I aimed to create a portrait of each participant, seeking to interweave their own self-perception, with my own illustrative style. The aim of the project was to create a truly representative portrait of each individual, and engender a positive reaction from each subject regarding their physical and non-physical self. A final aim was to create a disparate range of illustrations to highlight the vast differences in how modern women author themselves, and the diversity of the female narrative.
